Ukraine
The UK government has announced two schemes to offer safety in the UK to those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine:
- Homes for Ukraine
- Ukraine Family Scheme
Government has published the following guidance and information in relation to the schemes:
- Homes for Ukraine: guidance for councils
Updated with new sections on rematching, safeguarding, and other amended information on child benefit, self-employment and opening a bank account. - Emergency regulations to enable immediate benefit support
- Amendment to statutory homelessness duties for councils to those from Ukraine
- Homes for Ukraine FAQ Updated to include information on rematching, Universal Credit and amended information on foster care, access to education, opening a bank account and applying for a Biometric Residence Permit.
- Update to Adult Education Budget funding Rules (inclusion of Ukrainian adults)
- Chartered Institute of Housing, Housing Rights Information Help for Ukrainian Refugees has information on issues related to accommodation

- RESET launched a matching and training service to pair sponsors and refuges under the UK Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme on 1 April: Reset launches Homes for Ukraine matching and training service • Reset Communities and Refugees (resetuk.org). This includes Homes for Ukraine Sponsor Toolkit • Reset Communities and Refugees (resetuk.org)
- Refugees at Home and Citizens UK are also offering a matching service.

- Updated to clarify eligibility, and include information on safeguarding, interim payments for guests, utility bills and council tax, guest rights and entitlements, accessing a job centre and information on what to do in the case of sponsorship breakdown.

- Ukraine Extension Scheme: From 3 May 2022, Ukrainians already in the UK who had permission to stay in the UK on or before 18 March 2022 will be able to extend their stay.

The Government’s announcement on 22 June confirmed that children and minors under the age of 18 who have already applied through the Homes for Ukraine Scheme will be allowed to come to the UK without a parent or guardian in carefully defined circumstances.
As of 15 July, the Homes for Ukraine scheme will begin processing existing applications from children under 18 not travelling with or joining their parent or legal guardian.
