The Regional Mental Health Team NHS England – East of England is working in partnership with Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Groups to deliver interactive two hour workshops to provide an introductory insight into the cultural barriers and adaptions that can be implemented when supporting and engaging with specific groups. The third workshop with be delivered in partnership with Bal Kaur Howard focussing on Harmful Practices including HBA / Forced Marriage, FGM, Breast Ironing and Gender Selection. Bal will also discuss witchcraft /black magic and spiritual possession.
Trainers will use power point presentation, visual materials and facilitate case studies discussions. Each trainee will receive a copy of the training presentation and relevant hand-outs for future reference.
What will you get out of it?
Bal has been advocating on the issues of BME women and men on domestic violence, honour based crimes (Forced Marriage & Female Genital Mutilation) and Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) since 2008. She has developed and delivers training for front-line practitioners in Health, Social Care, Police, Education and the voluntary sector throughout England and Wales in the subjects of Domestic Abuse, Risk Assessment, Honour Based Abuse, Forced Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation, Radicalisation / Extremism, Modern Day Slavery and Addiction.
Audience: East of England Perinatal Mental Health Staff.
These workshops will not be recorded. CPD Certificates will be available for professionals that attend the session and complete the feedback survey.
