East of England Perinatal Mental Health Services – NHS England are working in partnership with Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Groups to deliver interactive two hour workshops to provide an introductory insight into the cultural barriers and adaptions that can be implemented when supporting and engaging with specific groups.   This workshop with be delivered in partnership with Rose McCarthy and Experts by Experience focussing on Understanding and Supporting the Perinatal Mental Health Needs of Asylum Seekers and Refugees.

Trainers will use power point presentation, visual materials and facilitate case studies discussions. Each trainee will receive a copy of the training presentation and relevant hand-outs for future reference.

What will you get out of it?

  • To identify ways of working with and supporting asylum seekers and refugees
  • Develop awareness of cultural background and ethnicity in regards to accessing healthcare services
  • To discuss how services can be adapted to meet the needs of asylum seekers and refugees

Audience: East of England Perinatal Mental Health Staff.

These workshops will not be recorded. CPD Certificates will be available for professionals that attend the session and complete the feedback survey.
