An in person Open Dialogue Workshop to meet mothers who are seeking asylum and who are pregnant and have young babies and find out more about their experiences of accessing Perinatal Healthcare. This workshop with be delivered in partnership with Happy Baby Community.
Happy Baby Community works across London and in Surrey to help mothers who are seeking asylum and who are pregnant and have young babies. We meet at 5 locations every week, and host 2 online community days.
HBC has created a strong community that offers many services including mother-baby activities, health and welfare education sessions, individual welfare support, peer support, therapy, English, yoga, baby massage and an extensive perinatal programme.
In perinatal we work with up to 450 women each year. For our pregnant and newly postnatal mothers, we provide information/ advocacy/ preparation for birth and infant feeding, doula support, specialised breastfeeding counselling, postnatal peer support, baby massage. Everything is done with interpretation into the mothers own language and we work with over 30 languages constantly.
Session will provide:
- A better understanding of Asylum Seeking Women
- Have better understanding of the barriers which Asylum Seekers face when accessing public services
- Be equipped with information to provide more inclusive services to Asylum Seekers
