A briefing for council officers to understand the similarities and differences between the new scheme and VPRS or VCRS schemes

An opportunity for council officers to hear about the future of refugee resettlement when the current scheme ends in 2020 and put questions to the Home Office and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government Joint Team.

The Home Secretary announced details of the new scheme in June 2019: New vulnerable refugee resettlement scheme

The event is for those council officers whose councils are participating in the current programme as well as for those who want to find out more as their council may want to join the new programme.

The Joint Team will outline the similarities and differences between the new and old programmes, plus the timeframe for the new programme and how council pledges will fit into this timetable. It will also be an opportunity for the Joint Team to hear from councils about the time they will need to secure pledges through the political framework in local government, and what support they need for this.

A draft agenda is now available. The confirmed agenda will follow with the joining instructions.Post 2020 refugee resettlement briefing event.docx
