London Clinical Network is working in partnership with Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Groups to deliver interactive two hour workshops to provide an introductory insight into the cultural barriers and adaptions that can be implemented when supporting and engaging with specific groups.  The sixth workshop with be delivered in partnership with LGBT Mummies.  The sole purpose of LGBT Mummies is to support LGBT+ women & people globally on the path to motherhood or parenthood.

LGBT Mummies provide guidance on the different family creation pathways through their website, social channels & support groups, whilst providing access to their global community to meet other like-minded families. From providing guidance on fertility clinics & sperm banks, resources, connecting people to supporting organisations, brands, sharing studies, private support groups, to celebrating & sharing lived experiences & their annual events where families come together.

LGBT Mummies mission is to acquire true equity & equality for LGBT+ families to that of our heterosexual counterparts. They passionately campaign for LGBT+ family equality & positive policy change. This is achieved through ongoing recommendations, training & conversations with the Government, NHS, corporate & charitable organisations, to improve support for LGBT+ families across healthcare, law & society.

Trainers will use power point presentation, visual materials and facilitate case studies discussions. Each trainee will receive a copy of the training presentation and relevant hand-outs for future reference.

What will you get out of it?

“LGBT Mummies & Proud Foundations strive to educate in the lived experiences of the LGBT+ community, our paths to parenthood & the needs of our people during our journeys.

LGBT Mummies will be speaking about the barriers experienced on the path to parenthood, the implications of those barriers & how Midwives can provide informed & positive support to ensure safe & inclusive care for LGBT+ women & birthing people in their care. There will be an opportunity for a Q&A in a safe & closed space to share your own experiences as Midwives & ask questions following the talk.”

Audience: London Maternity Staff.

These workshops will not be recorded. CPD Certificates will be available for professionals that attend the session and complete the feedback survey.
