A 2 day course for practitioners who are/will be undertaking Merton compliant age assessments
The Strategic Migration Partnership at East of England LGA is pleased to
offer a two day course in undertaking Age Assessments.
Day 1: 9th May
09.30-16.30
The session will be delivered by Pat Monro, a solicitor
and former part time immigration and asylum tribunal judge.
This training session is intended for professionals who have knowledge of the
subject and wish to gain further expertise.
The session will cover:
- Relevant immigration, asylum
and human rights law
- UKVI/Home Office guidelines
- How to conduct a fair
and robust assessment
The session will be participative and delegates are encouraged to share
cases they have had difficulty in resolving.
Day 2: 16th May
09.30 - 16.30
This session will be delivered by Local Authority and NGO leads in age
assessment from within the region.
The session will cover:
- Preparatory work before an
age assessment is conducted
- Practical skills when
undertaking age assessments
- Roles and responsibilities
of the appropriate adult
- Good practice advice
- Writing up the assessment
Delegates will only be able to attend Day 2 after successfully
completing Day 1.
